Mom’s Healthy Habits to Maintain Healthy skin

Mom’s Healthy Habits to Maintain Healthy skin

As a mother, it can be challenging to find time for self-care, especially when it comes to maintaining a healthy skin. Dedicating all their time in taking care of their children, husband and managing household responsibilities, it can be easy to let your own needs fall along the way. However, taking care of your skin should be a priority in every mother’s life since it is important for both your physical and mental well-being.

Here are some tips and routines for mothers to help them maintain a healthy skin:

  1. Create a daily skincare routine for both morning and evening: The first step in maintaining a healthy skin is to establish a daily skincare routine. This should include cleansing, moisturizing, and applying sunscreen. Cleansing is important for removing dirt, oil, and makeup that can clog pores and lead to breakouts. Moisturizing is essential for maintaining a healthy skin barrier and keeping skin hydrated. And sunscreen is a must to protect your skin from harmful UV rays that can cause premature aging and skin cancer. These steps take a maximum of  minutes of your time, so squeeze in these few minutes for yourself.
  2. Stay hydrated: Drinking enough water is the key to maintaining healthy skin and a healthy body. Force yourself and aim for at least 8 glasses of water per day. If you have trouble remembering to drink water, you can set a reminder on your phone, or use an application that reminds you to drink water, or use a water bottle with measurement markings to help you keep track of your intake.
  3. Get enough sleep: Lack of sleep can lead to dark circles, puffiness, and wrinkles. Try to get at least 7-8 hours of sleep per night. Even though it may be hard for the new mothers, try to keep this in mind as your little ones are growing up.  Establish a bedtime routine that helps you relax and wind down before you go to sleep.
  4. Maintaining a healthy diet: make sure that you are following a diet that is rich in fruits and vegetables, lean proteins, and healthy fats that can help keep your skin looking youthful and radiant. Since this diet is  rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals that are essential for skin health; they can instantly boost your glow. In addition, try to avoid processed foods, sugary drinks, and excessive alcohol, as they can dehydrate your skin and lead to breakouts.
  5. Use sunscreen: Sun damage is one of the leading causes of aging skin. Make sure to use a sunscreen with at least SPF 30 every day, even when it's cloudy. Sunscreen should be applied 15-20 minutes before going outside; make it part of your daily skincare routine as a means to maintain healthy skin
  6. Exfoliate regularly: Exfoliating helps remove dead skin cells, which can make your skin look dull. You can use a gentle exfoliating scrub or an exfoliating brush.
  7. Moisturize: Moisturizing is important for maintaining a healthy skin barrier. Make sure that the moisturizer you choose is compatible with your skin type. If you have dry skin, choose a heavier cream, while if you have oily skin, a light lotion or gel may be more suitable.
  8. Take a relaxing bath: while many may think it is unnecessary, yet throwing a bath every once in a while is a key solution to get rid of all the stress you are suffering from as a mother; even if you don’t know it, but stress does make your skin look dull, tired and pale. So make sure that you are taking care of yourself and relaxing yourself in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle that will automatically result in maintaining healthy skin
  9. Incorporate face masks: Incorporating face masks into your skincare routine can help to boost the overall health of your skin. Look for masks that are formulated for your specific skin concerns, such as hydration, brightening, or acne-fighting.

Lastly, maintaining healthy skin as a mother can be challenging, but it is important for both physical and mental well-being. By establishing a daily skincare routine, staying hydrated, getting enough sleep, eating a healthy diet, using sunscreen, exfoliating regularly, moisturizing, taking relaxing baths, incorporating face masks and finding a balance, mothers can take care of their skin and feel great about themselves. Remember, self-care is essential and taking a few minutes each day for yourself can make a big difference in how you feel and look.
